Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and convinced him to take the part
Scenario
A grief counselor begins telling his clients exactly what he thinks, and by ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives — including his own. The cast of “Shrinking” shares the defining moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveal who is the best Harrison Ford impersonator. When asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence said that Goldstein originally wanted someone who was a “Harrison Ford type” and was going to audition for people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least pitch it to Ford first, thinking that he would reject it outright, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been featured in the project, which had piqued the interest of other big-name actors.
The rest of the show is great, too
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was happy about it. Featured on WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). Jason Segel was perfectly cast in this script. He has a weird, idiotically confident energy for the role.
And Jessica is perfect
Her humor is just right for the dialogue. It’s a new way for situational comedy dramas. No real punch lines, just engaging personalities with a bit of weirdness and family circumstances that are just a little off the edge of normal but still relatable. Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd.
It’s just not possible
You’d lose your license immediately. But in drama, we allow for metaphorical situations. And in this script, we sense a strong intentionality in the decisions. We have to give the writers the benefit of the doubt and try to get the gist of it.
Other reviewers have clearly struggled
It’s easy and fun for me.
