Britain allowed filming to take place in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely bestowed on any film or film production, especially an American one
Scénario
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is offered a high-profile job she is ill-suited for, with tectonic consequences for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the American and British governments to allow them to use real-world locations for the series, including the still-new American Embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
Appeared at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024)
The only location that could not be found was Winfield House, the real-life residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London outside of Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
I’m so glad I did because it was amazing
I’ll admit, I wasn’t planning on watching The Diplomat, but after hearing so many great things and reading all the amazing reviews, I thought I’d give it a shot. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
I was hooked from the first episode
While Keri Russell was great in The Americans, I thought it was more about the writing than the acting, so I wasn’t sure if she and Rufus Sewell could carry the show as the leads, but they really are, they’re both great here. The chemistry between these two is what makes this show so good.
I could definitely see this series winning some awards
