Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet, which causes them to get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew”; and more stars from a distant galaxy.. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s young siblings is the same as Chewbacca’s family clock in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). I approach this review with caution and acknowledge that 'Skeleton Crew' seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Although kids can enjoy it, I found the first four episodes quite depressing. The story lacks depth, it feels more like a children’s movie that jumps from place to place without much consequence. The war background feels shallow, and the action sequences lack the impact they should have. The acting, while not terrible, could be stronger, especially considering the caliber of some of the actors. Even Jude Law seems to dial it in at times. The production design is impressive, but it can’t save the story, which feels slow and ultimately quite forgettable. Maybe the series will improve later, but based on the first viewing, I’m not convinced. Please prove me wrong! "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. See more in our December calendar!
